To My Darling Sister

To My Darling Sister

A Poem by Tai-San

To My Darling Sister
Where did you go,
Those many years ago?
I can no longer remember,
Though that’s the fault of mine.
Why can’t you still be here with me?
Everything’s going so wrong.

You’re going to be an auntie,
Did you know that?
Well, you do now.
Now that you’re in “Heaven”.
I think it will be a boy,
As gorgeous as you should have been.

You had the looks,
And I envied you,
Even as a little girl.
You had the brains,
But yet,
you left me here.
Why would you do that,
My sister?

Linda Kerry,
I keep saying one of my best friends is the best thing that ever happened to me,
But you are too.
I just wish you could be here, now.

It’s my fault you’re dead.
Why did you do it?
You could be here, living the life.
Making Mom and Dad proud.
I know you’d be better at it then me.

You would have had the spot-light,
You would have had the dream.
I’m still doing American Idol,
But for you,
Not for me.

You would have been beautiful,
Having the guys all over you at our school.
Instead I do,
Though I’m not beautiful.
Not even pretty.
I’m just me.

You would have had one straight boyfriend,
Yet I don’t.
Though I found the love of my heart,
I gave him up too quickly.
Mostly because I saw things,
And also because Father said I would have made him miserable,
Keeping him from his dream.
So I let the love of my life go.

He’s still my friend, though.
And, although I’ve been having visions about him and I,
I refuse to bother him about it.
He has her,
The girl of his dreams,
And I,
His best friend.

Besides him,
All my friends have gone away.
Even you.
Have you been watching?
Sister,
Give me guidance,
Please.
Just as you would have when you were walking this Earth.
Do you still walk?
Are you a spirit?

My darling sister,
The only one of my blood,
Please send me someone.
Someone who will hold me,
And love me.
And sing me the song Dad used to sing.
The Spanish one.
Please send me someone,
And prove to me someone can love me.
Prove Dad wrong.

Linda Kerry,
My sister,
And now my guide.
Send someone soon,

And I’ll be sure to still believe
