Manifesting Clouds

Manifesting Clouds

A Poem by Tam Warink

When another lifts you up.

Manifesting Clouds

(When another lifts you up.)

Let’s lay on the grass...

The day is warm and sunny.

Hey, look at the clouds!

Let’s see the shapes…

Over there I see a bunny.

There’s another up above

A maiden with flaxen hair…

And a white knight approaches

That dragon in its lair…

Oh, look, their kissing

Do you suppose they’ve fallen in love?

I just see clouds…

Oh come on. You see them, don’t you?

Oh, there's a silly turtle

And runners jumping hurdles.

A dark, shadowy person over there…

Show no fear, it’ll evaporate soon.

I’m getting hungry, how about you?

Yes, and the mosquitoes are too.

Let’s buy a ticket on that airplane cloud,

Fly far away where mom’s are proud

Of all the things that we’ve become.

I think you’re in a rut.

Oh, come on, manifest some clouds…

Perhaps you’ll see the Mother Cloud!

Well, that might lift me up.

Sure it would, come on, you’ll see.

OK, that one, looks kind of funny…

Oh, you mean that one, over there?

It’s like a kid whose nose is runny

And there’s Snoopy in a birthday hat

And there… it’s Lucy - up to bat.

Smack! You’re right…

Those bugs are hungry - let’s skedaddle!

Untie the boat, I’ll get the paddles…

Steer’er toward the evening star.

I think that’s where we parked the car.

You know you really are the best.

Yea, but you can “see” them now,

That’s good, now I can take a rest.

Those puffy, fluffy little shapes…

Love… I can once again appreciate.

Form-wise, it's all over the place. Pay no attention. (D'Arcy Wentworth Thompson would roll over in his grave.)

Gah, AMAZING. I love dialogue. This reminds me of something Lewis Caroll might write, for some reason... not to compare (but I did, didn't I?)... it's very tender-hearted and explorative. I don't know if the 'maid with the flaxen hair' reference was intentional, but I immediately began hearing Debussy's piece playing in my mind when I read that line (Hey, a rhyme! What a good time!)... which contributed to the light-heartedness, of course. It's a lovely piece. A lovely poem you've written, indeed.

Now when I feel anything less than happy I'll look at the clouds and try to find that bunny. My favorite part: (especially the last line.)

This is the patch of sunshine you find on a rainy day bringing smiles and warmth to those who see, well in this case read it. Lovely

It is all relative said a very wise man. And so you might as well spend your time with one who sees bunnies in clouds … better yet, chocolate bunnies. I think the free range from was rather effective.

Thank you, Casnova3! Your enjoyment is mine as well. =^o^=
form didn't matter, this is delightful...someone finally gets it, finally has the imagination to see what might not be literally there...but in the mind...and it is mind over matter i think.

i was always the dreamer, the poet who saw things that weren't visible to others, so i can really appreciate this piece, lots.
thanks, Tam.
