In The End

In The End

A Story by Serenity

Tears spilled onto my baby blue linan sheets, as i rolled over waking me from my restless sleep. I looked up at my popcorn ceiling and tried to remember what it was that had made me cry. Could i have been having another dream of you. my thoughts grew clouded with distant memories that played across my mind like a drive in movie screen. Crying even harder i rolled over onto my side and curled up into a ball, like i had done so many times before. It has already been six months since you left me there standing in the pouring rain with nothing but a single red rose and memories of what we once were. The memories came flooding back. Ice cream on the beach, and kissing under your umbrella in the rain, dancing in the park, but the memory that i remember the most, is when you whispered Goodnight, that one fateful night.

"Dinner was amazing tonight" i laughed, gently squeezing your hand that was frimly in my grasp. My head rested carefully on your shoulder. My eyes slightly closing, with happiness, a small smile spreading across my face. You bent down and kissed my forehead so tenderly i could have cried with joy. We strolled up to my small little condo, my parents were probably sitting right inside waiting for me, but i didnt care. I turned to face you, and smiled shyly. You held my chin delicatly and pulled it up so that i was looking into your beautiful Golden eyes. You leaned in and carefully placed your lips on mine. It was our first kiss, and i kissed you back. I always thought it was a magical moment.

That was the night before, i felt like everything was going perfectly. That we would always be together. That we would get married and have kids, grow old together, even die togther. In the end it just wasnt meant to be, i guess. The next morning i recieved a rose from you, the rose was a light orangish color with beautiful scarlett tips, that blended into the orange in the center, making a swirlly design in red across the orange background of the intricate flower. On it was a note that read: I had an amazing time last night, I think I am in Love with you, I'll pick you up 6 for the fair tonight, see you later. Your Love, Adrian

There was a quiet knocking as i rushed to the door, and there you were umbrella and everything. You took me by one hand, the rose you had given me in the other and we went to the fair. We went on almost all the rides, including the ferris wheel. We sat at the top and looked out at the starry night, it was absolutly breath taking. Then we turned toward each other and kissed. We walked home together like we always did, a kiss goodnight in the pouring rain, "Goodnight" whispered so soft and tenderly into my ear, and i watched you as you backed up into the street. I saw what was going to happen before it even happened. It was dark and raining and the car didnt see you in time. It slammed on its breaks, but it was no use. The rose, our rose fell from my hand as i ran toward you, screaming your name. The car came to a halt and the driver got out, but i ignored him and rushed straight over to your side. I placed my hands gently cupping your face, and whispering your name over, and over again. You didnt hear me, you didnt even move, you were already gone. Your lifeless body lying in the middle of the empty street. Your beautiful golden eyes closed forever. All that was left was a lost girl standing alone in the rain, with only a single red rose and the memories of what they once were
