The Lost Dove

The Lost Dove

A Poem by Serenity

As I sit here in this garden

I sit here all alone

Wallowing is silence

In this garden of stone

There isnt much left of you

Just pictures and memories

and letters from you too

Promising to come back soon

before the strike of noon

Well now the clock strikes noon and here you are

but not in the way you hoped youd be

The ground begins to open up beneath my feet

and a casam sinks within in my chest so very very deep

Memories begin to float back to me

As I remember those years ago

When you said you would come back to me

even if it meant walking through snow

Well here you are but not as you thought youd be

You gave up your life for the land that you love

And on your bloody battlefield will forever fly a lost dove

Symbolizing that Death has not yet won.

Sorrowful Soliloquy with a reminiscent afterthought, Wonderful write.

Love after death, the melancholic beauty of sitting by a loved one's grave. Its an image i so often try to paint with my pen. This poem is really pretty. Right from the start the reader knows what it is about, but the emotion and impact is slow settling and literally creeps into the mind as it steadily soaks in the strength line by line. And only after the reader finishes do they realize just how big the poem really is. I love the lost dove you mention, flying for the love that has not died like the holder of the heart. Favoriting.

My sister..this hits way to deep for me..though over him as i am those memories have not yet faded and those scars not yet heal. My only comfort is that i got you back my doll.
