Hold This Dream

Hold This Dream

A Poem by Areya Valena

Hold This Dream

Take this dream and hold it dear in fingertips soft and silky,
fingertips that secretly brushed against my skin,
fingertips that quietly wrapped around mine.
Take it, and keep it, promise me...
Promise me that you'll hold this dream,
This fantastical landscape of our immoral values,
Coated in fairy dust,
and wrapped in confusion and lust,
Plant this dream,
Bury it deep so it can never find its way back to me.
So I can’t destroy this dream,
So that I can’t attempt to make it reality.
Keep this dream safe,
And because I wreck things,
keep it away from me,
