Shadow Blanket

Shadow Blanket

A Poem by Tattiana
"

Don't judge people because of their mental illnesses. It's stupid.

"
The blame is put on you
The fault is put on me
They will never understand us
They see what they want to see

We apologize more than we should
We have cried way more than we thought we would
Hide ourselves beneath a shadow
For it's where we've always stood

A shadow blanket is a thing
That's hard to do without
Much like a toxic relationship
You make up and then you shout

We want that physicality
A bond that we so lack
Exhausted by the blanket
That we keep upon our back

People everywhere don't get
The loneliness in our eyes
But even in a crowded room
They are devils in disguise

Sometimes we want to hurt ourselves
To forget the pain inside
We know it's wrong but yet feels right
It's quite the bumpy ride

We want to part with our demons
But it's rather hard to do
When you don't get what you so deserve
It feels like all you have is you

Someday the cycle will come to an end
But until then we have to fight
The shadow blanket on our backs
Till it's out of mind and out of sight
