A GambleA Poem by TaylerA poem about how some people don't care enough about the loved ones who give them everything
Go ahead,
Roll the dice,
My life is yours to gamble.
I place it in your ready hands,
You sneaky fingers grip it tightly,
Eyes gleaming wickedly with challenge.
I close my eyes, feeling your content,
You being content with me.
It's all I need to survive
I worship you, you and all your talents.
You manipulate, with sweet, silken lies,
Stretching in the lives of others.
You’re a thief, my dear, you’ve always been.
You steal my life and soul,
But then, don’t I give it to you?
Yes, that it, roll the dice.
Surrender to your gambling ways.
Surrender to the winning desires.
I watch placidly,
Standing at you gamble me away,
Each time losing a little bit more.
I’m fading away into nothing,
And you don’t seem to mind,
You just stand there playing your game.
But unbeknownst to you, my dear,
I’m slowly giving up on you,
I’m not your game to play.
For so long now, you’ve known the rules,
You and only you,
You’ve known how to play the game.
You hand rises, the dice inside,
Ready to throw me away,
But I can no longer stand aside.
And watch the game you play.
I leap in and steal my life,
Returning it to me,
You stare at me, eyes disbelieving.
I open my lips and say the words,
That I’ve been longing to say.
“I’m no longer yours,
“You can no longer throw me away”.
