Carry You OnA Poem by Tracie D'AngeloWritten 8 January 1991Walls are too narrow that bind you inside The windows are eyes that you run from and hide And you scream and you rage Of all that you’ve done wrong Find the strength and the breath To help carry you on Find out just why a man walks on the moon Capture the sun when it’s close at high noon And smile in a sunset Lay tears on a rose Hear words of a mystic Drink in all he knows The bon fires are burning Children in love Darkened beach sands And Heaven above Try to understand What elders have said You can dream all you want But your dreams are all dead But your parents have raised you with wrong and with right And each year you live you’ve tried harder to fight The smiles come and go while the dreams still remain Of what you want most and the place where you long Find the will and the hope To help carry you on © 2011 Tracie D'Angelo |
