Say My Name

Say My Name

A Poem by T. Edana Talbott

It’s been awhile since I’ve seen your face.
How has time treated you?
Kindly, I’d say.

Do you remember who I am?
If not, that’s such a disgrace…

Say my name, say it once,
And then I’ll leave as quick as I came,
I’ll be gone, so long…

How reoccurring this scene is in the process of moving on from a relationship. I have had one relationship where me and the person have remained friends but all the others ended the way your poem described. I think we have a tendency to not to want to remain in or around a bad situation, even if we are the root cause to the bad situation, and the best way to move on is to cut all ties. I've had women treat me the same way so I can say that even though this approach may be predominately on the masculine side that women have the capacity to be the same way.
