Say The WordsA Poem by T. Edana TalbottThere’s a never-ending road, a road so far,
I walk along the edge, embracing the winds with open arms. I just may lose sight of the sun, I just may wander long into the night, But I’ll stay calm and fight, Just for you. I long to hear you utter those everyday words, Those everyday sentences, The ones we hear, but rarely listen to, The ones we take for granted. Here we could be together, for eternity, Here we could start heading, quietly, Towards our forever. We’ll embrace the aches and pain, Together. I long to watch you do those everyday chores, Those everyday tasks, The ones we watch, but call a bore, The ones we finish too fast. We just may argue all day long, We just may say things, oh-so wrong, But I’d put up with no one else. Now I’m just asking for your help, Say the words, And bring me home to you, Bring an end to this road I’ve walked so far along. Say the words, And turn my gray skies to blue, As we sing an everlasting song. Say the words, The ones we hear, but rarely listen to, The ones we take for granted. Say the words, Your voice is where I’m headed, To spend eternity. © 2016 T. Edana TalbottAuthor's Note
