UNINVITED CALLS.

UNINVITED CALLS.

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

A MAN AND HIS UNWANTED PHONE CALLS

"

I had one
of those
uninvited
phone calls
the other day:

Hello, Benny?

Yes, speaking.

I see
that the insurance
on your washing machine
is is about
to run out,
would you
be interested
in taking out
a 5 year
insurance plan
with us?

I only rent
the machine,
it's not mine.

Oh, I see,
do they have
the machine
under warranty?

I don't know
and I don't care,
I said,
it's their
machine
not mine.

OK
the guy said,
have a nice day.

What was that
all about?

where the heck
do they get
that information
from?

then get it
wrong?

I must read
1984 again.
