SEWER PEOPLE

SEWER PEOPLE

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

ON THE SEWER PEOPLE AND MISSING ITEMS AND PEOPLE

"

The sewer people
are responsible
for all the things
that go missing;

for example:
no one in Newcastle
ever wears a coat;
you put pairs of socks

into the washing machine,
but only one sock
comes out "
permanently borrowed

by the sewer people.
I had this friend
at nursery school
who stopped

turning up;
now that
I’ve uncovered
the secret,

I’m pretty sure
he was kidnapped
by the sewer people.
The truth is out there...
