FRAGILE.

FRAGILE.

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

ON THE FRAGILITY OF LIFE AND BEING

"

How fragile we are;
how near the edge we get,
yet so unaware,
even in those moments
of stillness when we
sit and stare.

The show goes on,
the circus excites;
the long days,
the fun nights;
the pushing things
to the limit;
the share of the show,
the touch of the thrill;
the end is just out there,
a feel away,
a mere just out
of reach place
staring in the face.

How fragile
we've become
from the strong
we thought we were,
from the invincible
we pretended.

Soon or later
the close
of the game
and all 's packed up;
all's finally ended.

This piece takes you through the wonderful joys of life then twist to the ultimate end. Although the author does it in a way that is NOT dark and overly depressing, just the truth. Wonderful analogies, and a great poem reminding us not to take life for granted. I am glad ANTO told me to read this. EXCELLENT and wonderfully written, great job. Thanks for sharing with us.

Your beautifully written poem took me on a tour of life's journey from the beginning to the end ... We should never take life for granted and live life it to the fullest as much as possible making beautiful memories ... Enjoyed your poem very much :)

Thank you.
This is sweet in it's own way. When we're young we feel like we could win the game of life forever just because we have so much time left. Then as we age we must come to peace with the thought that other young people have taken our place, and our time will soon come.
I got a strong life lesson of acceptance from this, a great write :)

Thank you, Amber.
Anto sent a request for me to read this .. so shout out to Anto ..
"the touch of the thrill; " i think is the best poetic line ... i like the substance of your poem .. the language is straight forward, almost too much so for me .. want some colors and scents to the edge .. the point driven home is shivering even for me who has considered death and the measure of my days .. i feel blood pumping to my face and i better not let today go by squandered .. so thank you for that
E.

Thank you.
The title drew me in Terry (also the title of my favourite Sting songs).
The finality of the piece whilst still retaining decorum is breathtaking.
Simply written, simply brilliant T.
