ANA AND THE VASE.

ANA AND THE VASE.

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

AN INDIAN GIRL AND THE FAMILY VASE.

"

Ana, your father says,
where is the vase
your grandma gave to me?

You look at him
with your large eyes.
Not seen it, maybe

it is in the lounge
with the others?
You say.

No, I have looked there,
it is not there,
he says,

then I do not know,
Papa, you say,
looking away,

trying not to show it
in your big brown eyes,
your childlike lies.

He sighs, doesn't look
in your eyes, maybe
knowing somehow,

that you broke
the family heirloom,
but not wanting

to push it too far,
waits until you regain
your conscience to say,

if not now,
then some other day.

I really enjoyed this piece! I imagine everyone of us will be able to relate to scenario
maybe not to the extreme of breaking the family heirloom, but not being honest
with your folks and them knowing it! Brought back some old memories,
Thanks for sharing and b-blessed!

I remember lying in wait, for the perfect oppportunity to reveal what I had done...not that I did anything to suffer the consequences for. But we've all been there, having to tell a parent something we wish we didn't have to. It breaks us, just as much as it breaks them, I think.

Such a wonderful lesson, Terry!
