TANGIERS NIGHT 1970

TANGIERS NIGHT 1970

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

A YOUNG MAN IN TANGIERS IN 1970 AND A GOOD NIGHT AND A YOUNG GIRL

"

Tangiers &
a few beers
at some clubs

watching those
eaters of
fire &

those belly
dancer dames
& a snake

charmer guy
& more booze
& brought back

to the camp
at 4 in
the morning

clambering
into my
blue& pink

double tent
at the site
to sleep off

the hot night
the army
(ex army)

guy was dead
to the world
didn't hear

me come in
I wished it
could have been

Miriam
next to me
laying there

with freckled
skin & red
curly hair

& figure
to die for
but she was

in her own
tent but we'd
kissed goodnight

before hand
beneath a
Moroccan

moon & stars
& night sky
far from home

thinking of
Miriam
& where my

hands could roam.
