A GIRL THINKS OF A BOY WHILE WATCHING A SPIDER IN 1962

"


Yiska thinks
of Benny
as she lies

on her bed
a spider
hangs up there

black and plump
she takes note
its 8 legs

are waving
she senses
Benny's lips

on her lips
from lunchtime
his dampness

is still there
she feels and
imagines

her tongue moves
and captures
his detail

the spider
weaves a web
spindly

she's certain
in her heart
it will fail.
