1988 CAPTURE.

1988 CAPTURE.

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

ON LOOKING AT A PHOTO OF FATHER AND KIDS IN 1988

"

In the park,
I think,
some years back.

Me standing there,
beard and untidy hair,
Chan on the sea saw

to my right;
Dani on my left,
the eldest of the tribe,

facing forward,
eyeing the camera's eye
with a hesitant smile;

and Ole in front of me,
facing head on
the camera's gaze,

expressing a coolness
of his later days;
and to his right,

Nat the youngest back then,
the shyest smile,
fingers about to enter

to hold the smile
in place;
Summer,

1988,
I think,
the date.
