ALDERSHOT 1951

ALDERSHOT 1951

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

A BOY AND HIS AUNTIE'S DOG IN ALDERSHOT IN 1951

"

Hi Scouter
Benny said
the black dog

turned its head
its pink tongue
hanging out

brown eyes bright
let's go out
it's tail wagged

I'll go ask
my auntie
Benny walked

back indoors
his auntie
was cooking

can Scouter
and I go
out Auntie?

Auntie looked
down at him
standing there

not for long
and only
where I can

see you and
Scouter
she replied

he ran out
we can go
out Scouter

the dog wagged
its black tail
and they ran

down the stairs
black metal
come on boy

let's go run
so they ran
past soldiers

parading
passing tall
buildings

marching feet
on gravel
Scouter run

Benny calls
this is good
this is fun.
