HIS LOVE LETTERS.A Poem by Terry CollettA WOMAN FINDS HER LOVER'S LOVE LETTERS AFTER HIS DEATH.Those his letters. She found them in a package in a drawer. Love letters, tied with string, dried flowers in pages held. She read them one by one, not hers to him or his to her, but some other, his secret lover before his sudden death. She read them slow, the words, the small slanting hand, kisses at the bottom spread, and his love to her and then his name. The flowers have lost their scent, the fragile petals barely stay, she read them all, then breathing hard she tore them up and cast away. © 2015 Terry Collett |
