LISTEN NOW 1973

A Poem by Terry Collett
"

A MAN AND WOMAN IN PARIS 1973

"

Listen now
Sonya says
she turns up

the hotel
radio
she's half dressed

or undressed
depending
if we're to

go out or
to stay in
Delius

I love him
his music
so English

she mutters
(she's Danish)
I listen

sitting down
beside her
she pretends

conducting
her finger
in the air

waving round
her eyes close
she's away

a female
conductor
all I want

is to hold
her closely
and kiss her.
