![]() One Sunday Afternoon 1979.A Poem by Terry CollettThere was rising heat. I saw it rise up From the dung heap With flies skimming over And some sitting there Eating stuff greedily. I smoked the cigarette Eyeing Dee sunbathing On the red and white towel Her eyes closed As if in a form of prayer The face warmed up Her head resting carefully On the cushion from the sofa The patterned one With kittens playing. I sat in the deckchair Smoking away my eyes Drinking in the moment Of this life and watching Dee lying there as if asleep And some god Her soul to keep. © 2025 Terry CollettReviews
