Unconditional Love

Unconditional Love

A Poem by tess
"

You know what they say about addicts.

"

For a second I lied to myself.

I managed to forget.

But you came back to me,

And I took you in with open arms.

Oh God,

How I’ve missed you.

Your touch like a hundred electric bolts to the heart.

I’ve never felt more alive.

You press your chin up against my shoulder,

And I can feel your breath,

Tickling my neck,

And like a drug,

A field full of poppies,

It dozes me off to sleep.

Im finally at peace.

Wrapped in all your unconditional love.

I close my eyes and drift off.

It feels like the first time I’ve slept in days.

But you're gone again and I'm stuck,

At the bottom of some underground cave,

Bundled in my blue fuzzy blanket,

Looking up at the light,

Cascading in from the sky.

Shadows quickly slither across the somber walls

Insects bite at my skin,

Someone cries out in obnoxious laughter,

Rocks begin to crumble down,

Piling all around me.

Lightning strikes.

The light dwindles down to a flutter.

I wake up in a panic,

A gust of air entering my lungs.

I need your touch.

A whisper of reassurance.

But the right side of my bed is empty.

A shadow quickly slithers across the somber hall.

You've left me in a nightmare.

Naked, cold, and wet.

Craving for more of your drug.

I suck at poetry..... I am sort of in love with Walt Whitman..... (Yes I know that my font is small; it is like that for a reason: there to resemble life/the things we have to pay close attention.. more..
