Say Cheese

Say Cheese

A Poem by Arafat Safin

Poor man found a piece of bread
Sad little boy found a playmate
My uncle found a girl with lips so red
But your smile is out of frame

The oppressed won the final war
Gently smiled the rockstar's guitar
My uncle bought a new red car
But your smile is out of frame

After a hot summer came the sweet rain
Sandman showed us cure for all the pain
My uncle found a bag of cocaine
But your smile is out of frame

Fisherman found the last fish in the lake
True lovers kissed on each other's neck
My uncle won everything from gambling that was at stake
But your smile is out of frame

Desk clerk found job satisfaction
Young couple decided against abortion
My uncle got another promotion
But your smile is out of frame

Depressed guy suddenly became funny
The girl he dreamed about called him honey
My uncle died and she became rich with life insurance money
But your smile is still out of frame
