Butterfly Poem

Butterfly Poem

A Poem by The Lark

A mad dancing pirouette; the mating butterfly
Gives skittering charge towards its love, yet equally retreats.
Its partner, now pursuer, toys in similar deceits,
Perplexing this observer being drawn with curious eye.

It seems an awful folly; a promenade with chance,
When frail fluttering wings as these have all the greater need
To make haste with union; meet, and satisfy their breed,
But then, why have life at all if not for lively dance!
