A Poem by Steven Hicks
"

My emotions once again find escape in words.

"

For every curse and wound inflicted

I can only think of better times

No longer caring about words contradicted

A simple truth lies beneath our crimes

History has provided sources ample

We have gone to extraordinary measures

Though on our hearts we tread and trample

We’ve always remained incomparable treasures

This time alone is always hard to bear

Each second twists again the knife

I could cry and plead of how it isn’t fair

But I’ve learned to endure the strife

You will always stand out above the rest

Nothing can dispute you’ve been the best

But I don’t want to fade into the past

I’ll do whatever I can to make this last

Yet if you never again return to me

Nothing can take away our history
