Inner Fight

Inner Fight

A Poem by Steven Hicks

My head and heart

Are in a fight

Nothing makes sense

And nothing feels right

I’m sick of going in circles

Waiting for this path to go straight

I’m tired of looking inside myself

Finding only suffering, pain, and hate

I’m going to end this pain

That’s throwing me off track

I’m going to step up

And bring you back

Because I’m sick of going in circles

Waiting for this path to go straight

I’m tired of looking inside myself

Finding so much suffering and hate

This conflict inside is never ending

Someone needs to cut this wire

That has my heart suspending

And fix my eyes

So that I can see

Clear my head

And set me free

Because I’m sick of going in circles

Waiting for this path to go straight

I’m tired of looking inside myself

Finding only suffering, pain, and hate

Very symbolic and full use of imagery is great for making this poem all the more catching. Very relateable. Great Job!
