A Week of Corona

A Week of Corona

A Poem by Brian Aguiar
"

Maybe it will resonate.

"

Monday the mobs in masks reminded me.

Tuesday the television told me the death total.

Wednesday I went for a walk, but the weather was wet and windy.

Thursday things were okay, before the memories came.

Friday for a moment, I forgot. I found peace - freedom from it all, before the fall.

Saturday slipped away,

Sunday’s sun came, but it still isn’t the same as it was because

Monday the mobs in masks reminded me.

Catching up late with this, Brian, as I've been offline for a while. I really like your poem + the way your last line echoes the first... it's something I've done several times in my own poems + it feels very satisfying. Linda.

This is perfection, as far as making a message loop. Many have tried, but rarely does it snap back around as tidily as this. Living in the wilderness, I missed the pandemic, only seen 2 masks total. So it's very strange for me to read these things & try to imagine what everyone else is going thru. Your poem does a good job of reporting on palpable details within a fun & imaginative framework. But honestly, I'm so sick of this topic. I believe it will be a new normal in many ways, so stop complaining everyone. I've been housebound for 6 years & it's possible to thrive in a completely different way, once we decide to stop fighting it (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

the echo of the first line at the end, nice bookends.
Yes, just when we start feeling just a little bit normal, the new normal reminds us of how different everything is now, and most likely will stay, indefinitely.
nice subtle alliteration...adds to the feeling.
