A Chapter by Ezra Hennessey

It’s Saturday, time to get down to business.

It’s mid-afternoon, and I am exhausted. Who knew cutting vines and brush would be such hard work, especially in the nice spring weather? I had to enter the shed quietly and slowly so as not to spook the cat. At first, I didn’t see it, but as I propped the door open, the sun reflected in its yellow eyes. I could see its white chin lift and look my way. I carefully grabbed the old clippers and rake as well as a dusty pair of gloves on a shelf. It watched me intently but never moved.

I’d say there’s still quite a bit of work to be done, but I hope to clear all the overgrowth by next week. My parents called and said they still don’t want to travel, so I’ve gotta keep myself occupied with this for now.
