Neverland

Neverland

A Poem by The Imaginarium
"

the imagination is a powerful gift that is given to every child. The trick is keeping it as we grow up for the freedom that it offers.

"

With lego blocks we entered wonderlands of castles, fortresses and towns. With ordinary cardboard shapes we sailed on ships, walked as robots, hunted and survived the wild!

Cowboys and indians, doctors and teachers, pirates and mermaids;
We could be anything and anywhere our ambitious minds created.

Adventures in forests, skipping down streams, on pebbles stone walks;
Bicycle rides, exploring pretend crimes, saving the day, heroes getting away.

Dumps of broken furniture were a treasure chest! And through secret pathways,
deep down in the bush, no one would know that our hide out home exists.

All these are not just great memories, but worlds I still carry with me.
I miss the journeys with my brother, who knew all those paths through the sea.

Closing my eyes, still holding on, to the map that takes me away. Though some forget
and no longer see, I never want to lose it cause in these places, I can be free.

Oh the wonderful things that a child can imagine. I can remember doing all these things. There was a tree outside our house, and it would be ships, and castles and just everything. Oh I want to go back to those times. I loved this poem and how it covered so many of those aspects of a childs imagination. I had forgotten how so simple things could turn into so much more. This was such a great read.
