A Fool In Love

A Fool In Love

A Poem by Blue Ivory

A Fool In Love

You know that thing they say about money?

Well I realized it can be applied to affections too.

They tell you not to spend it all in one place.

To save some.

In case all that you have today, is gone tomorrow.

What will you do then?

Will you ever love again?

How can you?

All the love you had in you is spent!

You could, I suppose, but what kind of life would that be?

You could always TAKE your life.

But we all know that is no solution, as we are all alive and well enough to be able to read this.

You know that thing they tell you not to do with money?

Well I did that with my affections.

I loved with my heart and soul.

I don’t know if the worst part

Is that now I have nothing left to spend but a lot to spend on

Or that I spent it all in the wrong place;

A place that was never right to begin with.

Although, I should also consider

The fact that it cost me more than my love

And I still wasn’t rich enough to afford it.

So I invite you now.

Come join me!

Let’s laugh at my foolishness together!

And decide together also, which one the funniest sad fraction of my life is!

For after a mistake of which you have no way out,

All that is left is mockery

And laughter insanity.

I WAS ADMIRED ON THE WAY YOU TAILED MONEY AND LOVE TOGETHR COMPARABLY. OF COURSE I PERSONALLY INSSIST NOT TO SUMBIT ALL YOU GOT TO ANYONE IN THE NAME OF LOV UNLESS STICKED ON MARRIGE. AT THE END OF THE DAY YOU DON'T REALLY KNOW FOR exact who that person is anway. please keep it up and have a good day.

I remember this feeling. After my first real loss. Your poem expresses the situation so well. Only one who has given and lost can write such a thing. I hope all is healed but if not as you say you must continue to live (and write). You are a very good writer.

Thank you so much! That means a lot to me!
What is love? What is neurotic need for approval? What is becoming obsessed with another person's body? Do we get them all confused and do they happen all at once over the same person? All the time.

Interesting point. Thank you :)
Very cool my friend. yes, do not spend it all in one place, but sometimes you just can't help it, you spend to your heart's content only hoping that another will spend the same amount on you. Unfortunately, in love, there are no refunds, but plenty of stores will be holding a sale, so shop until you drop, you will find the perfect item to spend your hard earned money on that will only gain value over time. They also say, "A fool and his money are soon parted" I pity the fool who parted from you.

You are drawing a great parallel and it works really well, love and comfort or sex and money could be argued are all that really matter, but there is a difference between the two I think.

A poem with great wisdom and common sense logic.
"What will you do then?
Will you ever love again?
How can you?
All the love you had in you is spent!"
I wish I knew the above lines when I was young and hopeful. I did like the hopeful ending. Good to open doors to hope and friendship. Sometimes we can get lucky and find the special person. Thank you for sharing the excellent poetry.

The thing about love is, the more you give it away, the more abundunt it becomes in your life. Grieve, and then you at some point will keep moving until it doesn't hurt anymore. But don't ever think you gave all your love away. That's just impossible. You have as much love to give as you want to, and always will.
