The kingA Poem by PharoahPlace yourself in the shoes of a king on his thrown looking upon the kingdom you've ruled over for years..soon the day comes when you wish you could remove your crown and trade places with others..
The King
Rightfully as a king should I feel the world at my feet, There is the place my followers come to meet. They come to me for guidance, constant are the questions, But the abyss would be their fate if I left them. Though I'm on top it I feel the pressure of the globe on my shoulders The closer I am to immortality I find my surroundings get colder. The stares of envy can burn the sun to a crisp And the thoughts of your enemies can cause a four hundred pound man to flinch. Pure evil is the adversary and I'm suppose to stand for good, But fiends place bets against my every move daily I'd fall over the edge with the slightest push. With my hand to God I ask for the strength to proceed. And that I don't change on those who love me under continuous scrutiny. I wish their words fell on deaf ears... So I wouldn't have to wear a mask to cover my fears, But this is apart of my itinerary, The position of a king surely gets wary. The best choice for others is what I am to choose, Naturally finding the best choice for myself is the hardest to do. An internal battle, an undying war. The only mystery not solved is what we fight for. But I've cracked my own case, In my last days I've seen the light through the haze.. The future is not known I can't change what I've become, But from this day forth I live for the purest form of freedom. © 2012 Pharoah |
