Dolphin in the Street

Dolphin in the Street

A Poem by Sarah Ahmed

It was early in the morning,
I awoke to a sound
It appeared of an ocean,
dug deep in the ground
Whatsoever may it been,
my mind took it deeper
A dolphin in the street,
one of which was a keeper
So while the men down the road,
are drilling in their sweat
I lay peacefully in my bed,
and imagine what I get
Their drilling is of a dolphin,
their sweat is of an ocean
And in their hard labour,
lies my guilty devotion.
