Born to Die

Born to Die

A Poem by Craig Rozniecki

Born to Die

Before birth,
My life was decided,
The end inevitable,
Choice was of no matter,

Surrounded by sympathetic eyes,
Cognizant of what I remained ignorant,
Knowing of my alleged fate,
Praying that it was accurate,

A naïve little boy,
Playing with my friends,
Without a care or worry in the world,
Even that of which I was destined,

Unto me the truth was finally confessed,
Speechless as a result,
The world placed upon my shoulders,
Unable to remove it,

I walked about the land,
Deep in contemplation,
Not wanting to take responsibility,
Nor believing it to be fair,

Extra cautious with my decisions,
As temptations come my way,
In order to save man,
I mustn’t make a mistake,

I maintain strength through it all,
Yet constantly ask why,
For I was just a baby in a womb,
Who was only born to die.
