Grandmother's Photograph

Grandmother's Photograph

A Poem by Awaken the Sleepwalker

Two people
Still so young
In sepia
black and white
Arm in arm
livelyness
In true love
In true love

Such old evidence
Such like Romeo
Such like Juliet
Such like real, true love

Till the end
No sadness
Till the end
He loves her
Till the end
She loves him
In true love
In true love

Such old evidence
Such like Romeo
Such like Juliet
Such like real, true love

No poisons, No daggers
call from her balcony
No wars, nothing to hide
They hold each others hands
And now, now they are together
and together in heavan they shall stand

Such old evidence
Such like Romeo
Such like Juliet
Such like real, true love

It is said that art is in the eye of the beholder; as far as this piece is concerned, I would have to agree. While I'm sure you had specific photographs in mind when writing the poem, I saw flashes and scenes from our family's own photo album: pictures of my grandmother and grandfather, so obviously in love yet no longer with us in a material plane. A great read and very well written -- I especially like the use of short, intense sentences to drive the imagery home.
