Destiny

Destiny

A Poem by The Soft Parade

Could it be?
That within love we find such a tumultuous sea?
Such a bearing in life, be it not
Just a sliver of light?

An intermingling cold, the freezing
Of such tired old bones?
Of strife and vengeance,
Dark,
And light?

A weary sailor swimming frantic,
Mad with overburdened delight and fear
No longer can steer the past
As he paddles away from all that amassed.

No. Be it not.
See it clearly, trying not to be.
A fight with restriction and expectations,
Can one man defy his destiny.

Until death do they part?
Indeed,
In death they are free.
