Dear BeastA Poem by Ashmeet Sachdeva poem based on the 'Nirbhaya rape case' which took place in delhi in 2012.Dear Beast In thunderstorms, she'd live in dismay. Numb and broken, in the darkness she'd sway. If you had met her before that day, Her glee and charm would blow you away. Now all night, she'd scream and weep; The monster made sure to take away her sleep. Agile in agony yet ice cold, She couldn't escape, it had reached her soul. While she lay on the street , beneath the stars With The shame and pain and the carefree cars. They could cover her up, with a sheet at least.. Oh! How are they, any better than the beast? The scars on the body, they began to heal. But she couldn’t let go of what his touch made her feel. As It’s the rule of our land; it is SHE who will pay, The men in khakee, left him in a day! After all, how could she dare reveal? And it's natural everything the man then feels! So if a nice dress you'd want to flaunt, 'You were asking for it' will be their taunt.
