Talking with you

Some things are easier than others

When we go out to lunch we can talk for hours
And we laugh and smile
Figure out one thing after another we have in common
I've never met anyone like you
We could've sat there for days in that little café
In the corner of the room just talking
But there's always something else to do
And now I'm in a different state for the summer
And you're looking at schools for after our last year
So I text and wait
When The wait is over
It's like the phones are talking for us
Stiff and robotic rather than joyous and playful
Neither one of us knows how to text
I guess I'm just old fashioned
But in this world who can afford to be
And I guess that's why I'm usually emotionally broke
