Paper Cuts

Paper Cuts

A Poem by ThisVia

We get hurt

We get pain

We bleed

From unlikely things

That we never thought

Paper cuts

From books

Those engross us

Ones that capture

That took souls

To places, time, moments

We never thought existed

Ergo, these are entities

That we love

But love

As warm as it is

Still get us bleeding

Despite the wall

Built to protect

To keep as in the safe

It has its ways, it creeps

And it will be too late

When you realize

You get cuts

Thin, shallow cuts

That bleed

That hurt

Not that much

But still sunk deep

Yet you deny

Because you miss

The warmth

The euphoria

The bubble

The bliss

So you look
For the second time

But now you know

The entities

Those engross us

Ones that capture

That took souls

To places, time, moments

We never thought existed

That we love

Get us hurt

Gives us pain

Left us bleeding

But these may just be

From unlikely things

That we never thought

Just from books

We get hurt

We get pain

We bleed

Paper cuts
