A Poem by C Peril

Just writing to say that last night, for the first time,
you rested your head against my chest.
For the first time in a long, long time
everything was ok. Everything was right.

I could get the dictionary out. Thesaurus. Some of the old,
treasured lines. Write you to oblivion, and tell you
I was lost in your eyes, drowning in your smile:
hearts, heaven, destiny.

And that drivel.

[Don't get me wrong, there's time for that if everything pans out.]

And yes, on the train back home, the sight
of your copper coloured hair on my jumper...
the fact that I could still smell your scent.

Oh wow.

But mostly what I wish to convey is that
for the first time in such a long damn time,
everything was right.

It felt good to be alive.

This is such an uplifting reflection on a relationship. The fact than another can make our world seem right spells out love in clear description. It was wonderful to read aloud.
