Maidenblood

Maidenblood

A Poem by GTVile
"

A black metal song in memoriam for Elizabeth Bathory. Every other metal band seemed to write a song about her, so I figured we would too.

"

In 1560 there was born

A black mistress who craved the blood

Of innocent maidens forlorn

And buried them in cold, dank mud

Needles, scissors, hot pokers, knives

All those blades in secretive use

Tools for the trade of taking lives

Bore witness to months of abuse

Witches and servants cut out the flood

To quench her thirst for maidenblood

A warm bath drawn from maiden veins

Showers from the Iron Virgin

Erased the lines of age's stains

Well kept secret, the heinous sin

Destruction wrought by her own hand

Too many dead left to bury

Empty corpses across the land

Were strewn about so carelessly

Witches and servants cut out the flood

To quench her thirst for maidenblood

Her noble blood too rich to die

A casket made of castle walls

Death, no longer, could she defy

At 54 the Countess falls

If you notice the meter is a little shaky, I have to write the musical lines before I can solidify the meter to match the rhythm of the song. Once I do that, it'll be a much enjoyable read, and not so hard on the eyes!

a countess of death! she reminds me of Vlad the Impaler. this unquenchable thirst for maiden blood! i have no idea who Elizabeth Bathory is, but now i will find out (thank you wikipedia). i love dark terrifying writes that highlight the beautiful, yet less acknowledged side of human nature..great write.

Wonderful write- it does seem that a lot of metal bands write about her at one point. :)
The rhythm was a bit shaky, I have to say- I couldn't see how the song fit, but if you solidify the meter a bit more, I'm sure it'll be awesome. :)
Great job!
