That Mask

That Apparition

That brittle little thing,

The costume you wear

The one that conceals your mind

It is there, to only, remind

 

Hah! What? A smile?

A thought to please the soul?

No!

It could never work

You’ve seen it before

Why Try?

 

That Man

That Silhouette

That lost little Thing

The lie you tell

The one that shields your heart

It is there, to only, infer

 

Hah! What? A love?

A person to calm the mind?

No!

It’s just a fiction

You’ve felt it before

Why Try?

 

That Dream

That delusion

That fading thought of hope

That conceived fallacy

The one that keeps you standing

It is there, to only, disappoint

 

Hah! What? A shot?

A chance to appease the starvation?

No!

It’s only there to deceive

You’ve been fooled by it before

Why try?

I am very new to this writing world- without a collection of fine words, here to say in my humble little opinion, i think this is a really great poem!

Just as I am new to sharing my own poetry. It's funny that how whenever I look back at this poem I just feel it lacks something. The feeling and emotion are there, but it just lacks a flow if you understand what I mean.
Really thanks for the kind words though. It's nice to get an outside view from time to time.

Yes, i am aware of your feeling all to much, it is like a maths problem to a mathematician! I often wonder if even some of the great poets had works that they too felt lacking?

I really enjoyed these lines;

That Dream

I think these are very powerful words.
