Empathy

Empathy

A Poem by TigerLillie

Like a vessel on the high seas
he swims in her laughter.
Its effervescence embraces,
becoming almost tangible.

Like an ice cube in a coffee cup
he melts, drowns in her tears.
Pain on her face
brings him to his knees.

Floating on her love,
he is a dove in the air.
His heart swells to almost bursting,
as a water balloon in a child’s hand.

She gently enfolds him
in the down quilt of her comfort.
His senses are heightened, awakened,
every time she stirs beside him
and smiles.

Hello TigerLillie,

First let me say it was pretty. And I do mean pretty. I love the symbolism. As the title says you brought me into the emotion and I could feel the warmth and the smile. Excellent. You have a way with words, that reminds me of a bumblebee gracefully dancing between sunflowers.

I am suprised it has taken this long for me to find out you write. I am a little disappointed that you had not shared this earlier. Don't get me wrong, our styles do contradict, but nevertheless we could have shared. But time always tells the truth.

Always,

Matthew
