Old Man Time

Old Man Time

A Poem by Ollie
"

Entry for love poetry contest. Apologies for the morbid nature of it!

"

Old Man Time

Remember our first kiss?

How the wind howled,

The windows rattled.

The old house groaning.

A lifetime ago.

That was then,

This is now.

The end of all things.

Old Man Time,

Our third wheel,

Come to destroy us.

The passionless executioner.

In this sterile room,

I watch your chest

Rise and fall.

Rise and fall.

One last kiss,

Your lips cold.

A squeeze of my hand

Tells me goodbye.

Author's Note

Ollie
My poems tend to be too prosaic, and I think this one is too. But practice makes perfect, as they say! I'm sure people will be able to suggest ways to pare it down, and that's be appreciated.
