Mountain of Glass

Mountain of Glass

A Poem by T L Barnes

You can’t step inside me.

You don’t see tomorrow.

Your eyes they only see me

And when my heart breaths it’s hollow.

And I will dress you up when things get bad,

There was no red light holding you back.

Can’t you feel the change?

And I will be the one who feeds your dreams,

Step up, stand back, take a ride and swim toward your needs,

And don’t cry when you fall down.

I’m a mountain of glass

That formed when your pills hit me hard

And spread me around in golden colours and lights,

I light up the night.

How’s it feel now; you said you had to see my insides.

And when I rest, I breathe, I long for peace,

But now the shouting has started,

The sound won’t stop until my body is clear,

From ash and eyes and dirt and what you gave me,

Made me, but you won’t change me.

For you can’t step inside me.

You don’t see tomorrow.
