![]() Time and Time AgainA Story by Tara![]() Ten years is plenty of time to get over someone. Especially when you haven't had any contact or seen them in all that time. So why was Rylee's heart beating so fast at the sight of him?![]()
Rylee stood staring. She didn't even blink. She wasn't entirely sure she was even breathing. All she knew was that the boy who left and destroyed her life almost ten years ago, was standing about ten feet away. At least she was fairly sure it was him. His hair was a tad more curly and it darkened over the years. He looked tan.
Like a Greek God. Shaking her head she emerged from her thoughts. She wasn't even sure it was him. It had been so long he had surely changed his looks. She was probably just seeing things. It is a busy grocery store, the only one in town in fact, so the odds of it being him were very small. Besides, she heard he had some big career going out in California. No reason for him to return to some small town in Connecticut. "Christian King! As I live and breathe!" Rylee glanced at the direction of the voice. Ben Stizer. She cringed at the sight of him. But cringed even more at the name he said. Christian King. It was him. She wasn't sure how long she stood there. What felt like hours but was more like five minutes, she tried to continue her shopping. Her heart was beating a mile a minute? Why? She didn't know. She hated him. He ruined her life ten years ago. Finally forcing herself to move, Rylee walked down the rest of the aisle, keeping her head and eyes down. The last thing she wanted to do was make contact with either one of these men. She was still tryng to wrap her head around the fact that Christian was back in town. So many questions ran through her head. Why? How long was he staying? Rylee shrugged the thoughts out of her head, deciding she didn't care about any of the answers. As she finished grabbing the last few items on her list, her thoughts were rattled by her cell phone ringing. Seeing who it was brought an instant smile to her face. "Hey baby, just letting you know I am going to be about an hour late coming home from work. We need to finish up this deal." Bradley. Her sweet sweet Bradley. He was the answer to all of her problems. She really wasn't sure what she would do without him. "That's alright, gives me more time to watch my girly tv shows you hate." As they lightly bantered back and forth, all her previous thoughts left her head. Her focus was solely on Brad. She finished her shopping and checked out. She felt much better after her conversation with her fiance. "Not even going to say hi?" Rylee looked up and met the piercing blue eyes she thought she left in her past ten years ago. Christian King was standing directly in front of her, that same cocky smirk etched on his face. © 2016 TaraAuthor's Note
