Through a glass darkly

Through a glass darkly

A Poem by Tkess

Through a glass darkly

Winter light cascades

Silence falls across the land

Hope springs eternal

When the leaves blow away

Beauty revealed, revered

For some, but not others

It is in the eye of the beholder

Blind eyes

Holding a red dawn

They walk in dreams

Nightmarishly

Memories without faces

Staring blankly through

The abyss

They move without motion

Their skin drifts

Like the mind in ways

Entangled web

Ideas caught like flies

Cocoon spun, holding

A cache of thought

Tucked away in the

Recesses of the mind

They speak, voices mute

Lips move no sound, compose

A tongue, silver

And a soul so black

The wine, the blood

Pours from the pages

The meaning lost among

These moths, only concerned

With a flame, not the fire

Temptation, don’t tempt me

You may bite off

More than you can chew

Choking on the irony

Bittersweet

Candles red, flame

Shadows dancing

The walls lead, we follow

Mind burning,

The ashes drift,

Collect in the craters

Of time, space

Through the glass

Time waits for no one

It just permeates

Through eternity

Tkess,

"Temptation, don’t tempt me

You may bite off

More than you can chew

Choking on the irony"

Indeed choking on the irony, for these words come more wisdom than fathom-able.

I admire your writing style, you beat around the bushes and peek around the corner waiting to see the next reaction - what effect your words have on the reader.

It seems you have captured a writing style that works for you... I will need to read this a few more times so that I can gently absorb the full meaning.

Thank you for sharing with us,

I like this considering it is a departure from the urban grit that inspires you. It's hopeful, colorful, and imaginative. Almost like a Moody Blues recording in a way.

Great work, Tkess.

Okay. I like this a lot. There are lots of reasons, but I'll stick to the main one for me. You are smashing cliches like "bite off more than you can chew" by surrounding them with these crazily vivd images. It's insane. I can't stop reading until I'm done. You have a great gift for framing your thoughts and feelings with living word-pictures. Brilliant again.
Cheers!
