Life, the Universe, and a Cold Beverage

Life, the Universe, and a Cold Beverage

A Poem by Tkess
"

The title comes from Life, the Universe, and Everything by one of my favorite authors Douglas Adams. Just some thoughts I had sitting on my balcony tonight.

"

The night melts and drips across the land

Humidity hangs like a bag over your head

And the crickets are singing, and the birds are silent

And my beer is getting warm

I stare into the paper thin moon

A gateway to the soul of the heavens

I wonder where did we come from

And where do we go

And how many beers do I have left in the fridge

Bob Dylan singing about a simple twist of fate

And isn’t that what got us here?

We won the lottery of birth against astronomical odds

Truth exposed and naked like a newborn baby

But only to the right kind of eyes

And I think I need another beer

So poignantly true! LOVE this hon! I heard someone say a while ago..."death is inevitable so we may as well stick around and see what happens."....gotta love it lol
This is beautifully freestyled and thoughtful...how to squeeze the universal wanderings of thought into a poem...hmm...seems you have1 Excellent! xx
