![]() Wafer Thin MoonA Poem by Tkess
The wafer-thin moon, Dips Behind the milky white clouds The night mixes with a swirl My coffee is getting cold On this starry night
I put my collar up, but The cold just ruins us I put my hat on But the night just curses us
Time is an abstract It flows and engulfs It's there, but not Then, so too is life A meaning lost in The black onyx sky
The sirens tear the night in half And the morning finishes the job Fast women, a slow burn Of my cigarettes and this Bottle of cheap whisky
Barking at the moon, That’s growling like a husky My hands burn from the cold shoulders And my eyes burn from all the smoke No warmth, just broken alley stares
The streets are desolate with the masses Talking to themselves though earpieces Like homeless madmen With signs that read, “The end is nigh, again”
The old men, like gatekeepers With Cheshire cat grins Stroking their bearded goatees And chewing on unlit cigars
I’m nursing my whisky Smoking my cigarettes, staring At the wafer-thin moon Wondering which way my life will turn Down this purple hued avenue © 2011 TkessReviews
