ISHERI ROAD

ISHERI ROAD

A Poem by Tomi

She goes to bed in all her make up
She sleeps but Never wakes up
The smell of decay
There's been a murder off isheri road

There's a gathering of all the neighbours
friends, family and strangers
Silence and confusion
"she was a woman of the night" they gossiped

Men in black uniforms
Oh! It's just the police
Well, we doubt if it's going to get solved
The murder off isheri road

There's a glass of poison beside her bed
A bullet hole right through her head
A letter by the window
Is it murder? Is it suicide?

They'll bury her,
They'll say she was nice, she was kind
They'll say the world would miss her
Some would even cry, they'll show it on the news
Maybe if they said all these things while she was alive
There would have been no suicide off isheri road

Tomi
Be kind with words. Show love to everyone: they might not be here tomorrow! How and what we say to people can make or break them. People write themselves off when discouragement is all that surrounds them: mental suicide

I like how something this brutally honest and tragic seems so easily written, as if by first-hand knowledge of the one who is written about..... Many a time I wish there was some sort of "lighter" twist to what they show on "TheYNC dot com" and there never is. I have known a few friends in the past from Nigeria, and they were afraid of gays, government, and America stealing their oil. This poem can be translated and relate to anyone who has read the newspaper, or as in the case of the newest generation, ...the internet!! The poem is sharp and doesn't hide how ugly the crime/suicide is, but I like it. -Mark

A poem with logic and wisdom. People are blind till it is too late. Many people cried out for help. No-one cared till they are dead and gone. No weakness in this sad and realistic story. Thank you for sharing the excellent poem.

Wow, this poem told a beautiful story and taught a lesson that should be applied to every situation. Words hurt, but most people don't realize that until it's too late and the person that they attacked with their words is already gone... Beautiful job with this, very inspirational with a very important lesson.

sincerely am amazed by how much emotions such simply written poem carries. this is a case of mystery, a tragedy that asks questions that cannot be affirmatively answered. the truth is you j
ust make me wonder how ironic life is. we glimpse several situations and what we see them as is not what they are. Aren't the human race insight really bleeding? a question you just got me seeking answers. thanks for sharing this wonderful piece.

thanks
tragic, compelling piece... it shows people are more stimulated by shocking news than by giving love or affection to strangers as an everyday gesture... I completely agree with your words of encouragement.. positive reinforcement will motivate people in the right way, the consequences of our actions runs deep into society.

Oh, wow....this is amazing. I wish more people would try to live by that rule: show love to everyone because they may not be here tomorrow, plus you don't know what's going on in their lives. A single rude word from you might be enough to push them over the edge.

You're writing is amazingly detailed. I could almost see it happening. Great job with this piece!!!!
