Wings of an Angel

I wrote this poem after my grandpa passed away in December of 2013.

Today the angels took you home,
to Jesus now you belong. 
You now have the wings of an angel
and will protect us from heaven above.
I have loved you since before I was born,
tomorrow my love for you will still go on.
You may not be with us here,
but in our heart you shall remain. 
Forever and always, the memories I will cherish
for you taught me a lot of what I know. 
You taught me to be kind and strong,
you taught me how to fight and grow. 
You have loved me through a lot,
today I loved you through the pain and tears.
You will forever be in my heart
and to many forever missed. 
You are now my angel in heaven,
watching over us all.
Please use your angel wings to hug us from time to time
to help remind us that love is forever and eternity.
Love will always remain. 
I will look up to the sky every night in hopes to see the wings of an angel…
our angel.
